Cuttlefish Algarve Style, if you are a big fan of cuttlefish, you will love this dish for its simplicity and flavors. It is an easy hands-on recipe with taste from the Algarve (South of Portugal) that you will be able to cook in less than 40 minutes.
So simple that after cooking you just need to drizzle the cuttlefish with coriander (hope you are a fan) and lemon sauce and serve with potatoes and fresh vegetables to your family or friends.
500 g white potatoes
1 teaspoon of salt
3 tbsp of Olive Oil
400 gr of vegetables
Pepper (according to your preference)
3 garlic cloves
Frozen clean cuttlefish (already thawed)
Juice from 1 lemon
500 gr fresh coriander
For the preparation, you should start to wash the potatoes very well and prick them with a fork. Place them in a microwave-safe container, mix them with salt, and cook covered for about 6 to 8 minutes at maximum power. After this process, let it rest for a while and squash them lightly.
Grilled your fresh vegetables (or you will be able to use them frozen and already grilled) and heat a tablespoon of oil in a wide skillet. Season with pepper and cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, for about 14 to 16 minutes. Squeeze the garlic cloves and mix them with the remaining oil in a bowl. Heat a grill plate very well.
In the meantime, dry the cuttlefish very well and with a sharp knife make several diagonal cuts to form small diamonds. Grill them on the hot plate while brushing them with the olive oil and garlic mixture. Mix the chopped coriander and lemon juice with the remaining oil.
Serve the cuttlefish with the cooked vegetables, drizzle with the lemon and coriander sauce and accompany with the potatoes.
