Setúbal, from 4th to 13th June will have the Cuttlefish gastronomic festival with more than 60 restaurants. Roasted fish is a highlight from this city and region, located in the south of Lisbon.
Commonly known for roasted fish, beautiful white sand beaches, and incredible landscapes with Arrábida mountain nearby. In fact, on each corner, you will find restaurants selling and serving the famous fried cuttlefish. Setúbal is also famous for the oysters, besides the diversity of wines and of course Moscatel de Setúbal. However, you will find an amazing diversity of fish on the local market called Mercado do Livramento, considered one of the most beautiful in the world.
Fried cuttlefish is served with french fries and in some cases with special sauces. However, really depends on your preference. If you love the flavor of cuttlefish and you will be able to visit Setúbal don’t miss it.
On the last day of the festival, June 13, a walking tour of the Sado estuary and a commented tasting are planned. “The cuttlefish and the Sado Estuary”, with a meeting point at the Mitrena Picnic Park, invites participants to learn about details related to the second largest national estuary and one of the largest in Europe. The departure is at 9:30 am.
Also on June 13, at 6 pm, Casa da Baía will receive a commented tasting conducted by André Sengo and Rafael Frota, students from the School of Hospitality and Tourism of Setúbal and winners of the ninth edition of the national competition “Jovens Talentos da Gastronomia”, accompanied by a wine tasting with the participation of António Saramago Vinhos.
